NEVER SWIM ALONE

SN Round 039.png

About Us

At Swim Nation, we use swimming to build confidence, belief, challenge, acceptance, support, and belonging. Yes, we coach technique. But more than that, we create a community where every swimmer—nervous beginner to seasoned racer—feels seen, supported, and excited to progress.

OUR PHILOSOPHY:

Progress happens when coaching is simple, human, and specific to you. We meet you where you are, cut the jargon, and use the right cues, drills, and feedback to unlock your next step—whether that’s your first calm length or your fastest open-water kilometre.

HOW WE WORK:

Every swimmer starts with a conversation and an assessment. We listen to your goals, understand your experience, and agree the best path forward—so your time in the water feels purposeful and your wins stack up.

WHAT WE DO:

1:1 Coaching (pool & open water): Confidence building for new swimmers and targeted sessions for experienced athletes.

Group Squads: Supportive, well-structured training—mostly pool-based, with open-water sessions when conditions allow.

Premium Video Analysis & Stroke Correction: Available in partner pools and at our own Endless Pool studio (south Kildare - 30 minutes from Dublin) for precise, actionable improvements.

Clinics for Triathlon & Open-Water Groups: Half-day or full-day stroke analysis and correction delivered in your local indoor pool.

YOUR NEXT STEP:

Whether you’re learning to love the water or sharpening front-crawl for race day, you’ll find your people here. Join a squad, book a 1:1, or bring us to your club—let’s make your swimming feel like home.

Meet Maxine

I coach swimmers and triathletes because water has always been home. I grew up in South Africa, spent half my childhood in a pool, and—after moving to Ireland—fell head-over-heels for open water. That love turned into a purpose: helping adults of all levels feel calm, capable, and proud in the water. I work with first-timers finding their breath, returning swimmers rebuilding confidence, and experienced athletes chasing speed and efficiency. My sweet spot is front-crawl for open water and triathlon—and I’m big on simple, specific coaching that makes progress feel doable.

Over the years I’ve delivered 200+ premium video analyses, countless 1:1s and squad sessions, and club clinics that turn light-bulb moments into lasting change. Swim Nation is more than coaching—it’s a community built on confidence, belief, challenge, acceptance, support, and belonging. You bring your goals; I’ll bring the structure, feedback, and encouragement to get you there.

Swim Stories

SN Round 017.png
Having been swimming for nearly 20 years, it was time to get professional advice on where and how I could improve. I joined Maxine's Swim Squad in 2019 and it rapidly became my swimming family. I have learned so much through Maxine's sessions which have identified my many bad habits which I am gradually removing from my stroke (hopefully at least). It is gratifying to feel the immediate improvements in terms of efficiency and speed. Maxine's dry-land swimming classes have done wonders to stabilise and strengthen my shoulders in particular, which is translating into a more powerful stroke and less 'achy' recoveries. I should have been doing these for years. Maxine's sessions are always well-structured, challenging in a level-appropriate way and varied which includes the pool, the sea and rivers. The extended squad are great fun and very supportive. Swimming can be much more than just exercise and it is clear to see how Maxine is the catalyst to making the squad an amazing shared experience for us all.

Mark Dunleavy

I found Maxine in 2022 while looking for swim lessons for my daughter, and quickly ended up booking 1:1 coaching for myself too. In a short space of time my doggy paddle became a front crawl, and by January I’d joined the swim squad.

The environment Maxine creates is supportive, encouraging, and motivating — everyone pushes each other, and we train harder together than we ever would alone. Maxine works us hard, but always with a smile and genuine encouragement.

Since then, I’ve completed two 5km charity swims, discovered open water swimming, and even attended Maxine’s Mallorca swim camp — all experiences I never would have imagined before. Her passion is infectious, and her ability to gently nudge you beyond what you think you’re capable of is something special.

I returned to swimming in my 30s after a difficult childhood experience that left me anxious around water and avoiding pools altogether, even on holidays. From the very first session, Maxine created a calm, supportive environment where I felt safe and understood.

She didn’t just show me what to do physically — she guided me through how to manage the panic, break tasks into manageable steps, and gently push through moments that once felt overwhelming. Every session felt carefully tailored to exactly what I needed at that moment.

I’m genuinely amazed at how far I’ve come. I can now enjoy being in the water, look forward to swimming, and feel excited about the possibilities ahead. It’s a journey I avoided for years, and Maxine helped me finally begin it.
